In the quiet of evening, when the meld of hours and events and the response to clutter stops, I sit beneath the two large sky windows that open my studio to heaven’s stars, and I draw. Spirit, in its own multiple shapeless forms guides the creative energy. What I cannot touch, I feel and translate as I experience it.

This is the story of a journey. It began long ago, in some unknown place beyond the four elements: Earth, Air, Fire and Water to where we are standing now, imaginatively embodied as nature’s most primal form—the egg.

It is the story of a passage through the elusive shadows of life’s misadventures, and all of its mundane foibles. It is at times filled with curiosity and humor, at times with sorrow and ultimately leads back to the shimmering light which I believe embraces us all.

This first volume contains a collection of the daily drawings that emerged from my heart, mind and pencil finding their way to the pages that tell this story. Reading in sequence or just spontaneously opening to a page to find your own meaning in each drawing is the essence of Lights in the Dream: Meditation with Egg People.

Oh Night of my soul
I call to you
I draw you near
I breathe you in
I embrace you now.
Come, enfold me like a cloak.
Surround me with your darkness.
No longer do I fear you.
For it is through you
that I will know the Light
when it comes.
Oh Night of my soul
I thank you for your stars
which softly lit my way,
though I was filled with anguish.
I thank you for your moon
whose changing face reminded me
that time was passing,
that I was changing too.
Oh Night of my soul
I thank you for your darkness
which comforted me until my eyes
could bear the splendor of the Light.
